I actually liked 1 over 2. Fallout 2 was so open ended that I never really got to finishing it. Fallout 1 had the time limit and the more specific goal that you had to reach.

I actually missed the first half of the gameplay video when I was watching E3 last night, so I wrongly deduced that the game is "eh". I started watching when he was playing it as an FPS, which I totally do not dig.

I just rolled a dude the other day with 10 luck, 10 agil, i think 10 str (Can't remember) and 2 Int. It's pretty hilarious. Your only talk options are like "Uk ooh!" and "Fnug." and "Hungry". I just made it to klamath (or whatever the first city is called) and met that really retarded guy who talks like that, except with my retarded guy the conversations go:

Him - Ug prog! (Hello there traveler! I haven't seen you around these parts before. Would you be willing to assist me with a slight problem involving the brahman?)

Me - Whag noo. Ugh. (I would be more than happy to assist you, however it would be a great boon if you would be willing to answer a few questions first.)

Yeah, it takes a while before you can expect to smoke most of the things you run into. There's a way in fallout 2 to get the best armor and one of the best guns in the game at like level 1 or 2 as soon as you leave the first town. THEN you can kill some mantises in the face right off the bat.

Just poking around looking at various Fallout stuff while @ work I stumbled across rumors of a Fallout MMO.

While plying the Capitol Wastes with my trusty chinese assault rifle, a handful of stimpacks, and a bottle of Nuka-Cola or two, I totally missed my WoW account expiring. I don't think I'm going to reactivate it for the litch king launch, but I still will probably get litch king when I'm done with this amazing game.

I'm playing the good rout and now when I enter Megaton they give me gifts and thank me for being around. I can't wait to play the evil side of the game!

Oh, and I just found out where the alien blaster is. Can't wait to disintegrate fools.

Anyone know how the PS3 port compares? I was thinking of getting a PS3 in part to play Fallout (well, and Bioshock, but that's a given).

Also, that clock looks pretty sharp. How is the lunchbox?

I only have 1 bobble head. I missed the one in vault 101 and I've been doing my best to not use any strategy guides since this game has such awesome payoff for random exploration.

The PS3 version is supposed to be a lot more buggy than the XBox version. Lock-ups and quest item spawn problems seem to be the biggest worries, but as far as I know Bethesda is totally aware and working on some sort of patch. The xbox version is buggy too. For instance, there's a quest where you have to help a town defend itself against some super mutants and you have, depending on your skills, two unique speech options. One of these is for the science skill, where you offer to repair these derelict robots to act as defense. The problem for me was that the robots never spawned, so the whole town is standing around this empty junkyard demanding to be shown the robot repair. They were totally unresponsive, the quest line was stalled, and I had to just reload an earlier save and select a different option (even trying the robot option again didn't work). Also you can get stuck in places and if you're not outdoors where you can fast travel via the pip-boy then you have to reload. Still, the game is totally worth it.

Ok Steam is currently DLing...orig est time was 1 day (and 4hrs?) but it seems to be about a 1% per min rate

I need the alien blaster but refuse to look it up on fallout wiki.

So instead of taking the projected day to DL it it only took like 2hrs, so I got to play a bit b4 the raid
...I would have thrown the tea at my granny...but I'm pretty sure she'd still have the gun
(and fro #10 I chose the 4th ans!...those other ones were just imitators!!!)
Also...the game sorta reminds me of Bioshock (hmmm....perhaps b/c of the time period they chose to model it after)
especially the posters...hopefully there are no Big Daddies...or Atlas, Fontaine, or Ryan

The Temple of the Union quest... the dog's name is Four Score! Alejandra is heard to be saying, "Who's a good boy? You're a good boy, Four Score!" I gleed. Not to mention the regular dog model has one blue eye and one brown eye... blue on the dog's left (viewer's right) same as my dog Chance did. I am tempted, seeing as the console commands are near identical with Oblivion, to see if I can simply rename Dogmeat to "Chance." I had renamed all my horses in Oblivion that way... "Prior Maborel's Paint Horse" became "Barrel." (Who, me, making an obscure reference to The Hobbit? nah...)

Also, the vending machine notice on the computers in Vault-Tec Headquarters is hilarious.

My yao guai encounter wasn't pleasant either...one of those aerial bugs was annoying me, I turn to kill it, turn back, and jumped out of my skin-then proceeded to jump over rocks and by trees trying to avoid its maw, the Sawed-off shotgun was a really bad choice (same thing goes for using a minigun to try and kill someone with a missile launcher...I went splat that time!)

Hmm...that kid named Sticky got killed by the Tyron Mercs though (I think) was trying to get him to where I though Big town would be...but I took a short cut, and he disappeared

Oh! at level 12 I finally found out what the crouch button was >.< (and only recently did I remember to do the self repairing...lost a lotta caps having the Craterside lady do all the repairs)

...I still liked going Rambo on the Paradise Falls (or w/e that place was called)--twas fun

***Oh anyone know what Darts and railroad spikes are used for, or are they just vendor trash?

darts are used as ammo for the dart gun, the railroad spikes for the railroad gun. the dart gun does almost no damage but will instantly cripple the legs, if i remember correctly. you can get the schematic from one of the vendors at tenpenny tower. the railroad gun makes a railroad whistle when it fires, that's about it. it's not that powerful but supposedly if you find multiple schematics for the same weapon, the weapon you create gets better. i don't remember where those schematics are. my favorite crafted weapons so far are the bottlecap mine since it does so much freakin' damage, and the shishkabob since it's a god-damn flaming sword.

you should have options for different eye color at character creation, but the eye colors in practice aren't that dissimilar.

I've mainly been using the minigun, laser pistol/rifle/ Chinese Assault rifle, silenced 10mm pistol, the scoped .44 magnum...and ummm on occasion grenades and frag mines...and my nifty spiked knuckles

I need to go back to that Tyron Merc base and clear it out, prob plenty of laserowls there (although I noted one guy with a missile launch...perhaps I should bring along the Big Daddy and it's WMD's

Oh yes: the weapon, Fisto!, looks pretty useful, and rofl-tastic--is there only one or will I see others laying around further on in the game? (I found mine at the power plant north-east of the mine field, on the way to vault 96)

And as for the Big Daddy--I haven't really used it yet, but anyone have any guidance as to the how, of properly using it? Thanks

Oh, if anyone wants the Vengeance Gatling-laser Gun- I found it in the SE part of the Deathclaw Sanctuary (enjoy it if you've spec'd into Big Guns!
(also: Deathclaw Sanctuary is near the top left of the map, and a bit south from there)
