Intro of sorts

Hello all, I'm a newbie here on Arathor, that is, I just transfered from a PvP server to the unflagged joy of PvE. I just couldn't deal with not being able to explore freely as I chose nor do my dailies without being ganked. Not to mention, the only reason I made a character on that server was for a friend, whom I don't even speak to any longer. Hello Arathor!

I've gone through a few guilds and most all were immature or so into raiding it was like being around robots. Elitist robots in very nice gear. :P I love the freedom this guild has to offer, with it being about it's members and the connection each has to share with everyone else.

The last guild I was in that I actually liked had me as main tank on a 2nd team for Kara. I like tanking, but I want to try fury DPS for raids, not to mention, having a less stressful and more flexible position is always nice and great for PvE.

So with that, Hi! :]

Hey man. I think you're totally in the right place here, but I'm just the new guy. What do I know? It's good to meet you.

Howdy there! Welcome to the AmaZone! You should check out the charter when you get a chance. We're a bunch of democracy nerds so there's some policy in there that isn't too common in WoW. Also, don't worry, we're not at all focused on raiding. Hell, I don't even play anymore and yet here I am : )

I think you'll definitely fit in here! Some of us do raid, many of us don't, you can pretty much do whatever you want. As a guild we sometimes do Kara, and you can be whatever spec you want. :)

Heheh, thanks all for the warm welcome, and I love the democratic system set up here. It's like a cold glass of water on a hot day, makes you feel good all over. :]

Yo howdy! So-- I haz an introductory question for you. Perhaps a series of absurdities, instead. What books do you like? Any recommendations for a voracious reader? Also, what do you think of 4th edition D&D? Cats? Taking candy from children? Large spindly-legged northern herbivores with impressive antlers?

And, cheers to the transfer, and gankless dailies!

Fap's picture

Fap

I think Unisystem kicks d20 in the nuts.

Also, from my token d20-playing, mini-painting, balding-with-long-hair-having double nerd friend "4th Ed. is like gaming without dice. Or paper. Or like, DnD"

Beth's picture

Beth

Haters. I'm in two 4th ed. games, it's hella fun. Funnest new thing thus far for me might be Skill Challenges! It's like non-combat fighting! Using your skills and roleplaying!

Fap's picture

Fap

I've never tried it so I have no idea, but I would totally be down for it. I just like Unisystem and GURPS so much that when I play d20 it's like, not even roll playing for me. It's like a board game more than anything (compared to Unisystem and GURPS anyway).

No, not another one! The blue filter in the first one gave me sucha headache. And it was bad. If I wanted vampire/werewolf crossovers, I'd just play one of the World of Darkness games. May I at less devour the director? Pretty please?

I recommend the Pern series by Anne McCaffery unless giant flying lizards and people on a foreign planet aren't your cup of tea, I've never actually played D&D although I'd love to seeing as how WoW was inspired by it, I love cats, never had the chance to take candy from children, *gasp* herbivores with stick legs and antlers from anywhere are nice to pet and feed, I liked the second movie better and I think they both look pretty hot.

Strawberry Fanta is really good.

Orange Fanta in Europe IS pretty good, I hear. It's pretty balla in South America too. I had the stuff with every meal in Costa Rica. 'Twas even as inebriating as the Imperial. Stuff always tastes better in a glass bottle, no?

I had a friend in college who was really into Orange Fanta after studying abroad in Sweden and Costa Rica. Our favorite liquor at the time was 100 proof Southern Comfort, thus our disgustingly sweet mixed drink of choice was born - SoCo and Orange Fanta, which we named SO FANTABULOUS!

You get drunk AND get a toothache!

You had me at 100 proof.

Wow, that sounds like fun. O.o I've never experimented with mixing drinks and I probably wouldn't be any good at it either XD.

Verisa

There was a pizza place near where I used to live that stocked orange cream soda in glass bottles - it was like drinking a fizzy Creamsicle :). Welcome Lycannon!

Yo I had this like, 120 proof Bourbon over the weekend. Shit was ill.

Demonskin's picture

There's always 160 proof Stroh, if you're going for oblivion. Tastes pretty awful, though.

We've been making cuba libres with Mexican Coca-cola lately, which is much better than the domestic variety, possibly because it's make with sugar instead of high fucktose corn syrup. Likely available at your local supermercado.

Absolut makes a 100 proof Vodka. I buy it whenever I get the chance.

15's picture

I've only ever bought a handle of clear springs once. Well, one of my freshman year roommates bought one and then bitched out so the other roommate and I killed it. But yeah, I bought one sophomore year with two other friends who both had maybe 4-5 shots total in one night before puking all over the place. The handle served as my car-trunk bar for about a week and a half.

Anyway, I'd like to find out if there's a stronger bourbon out there somewhere. What I drink now is 43% but I don't like having to flood my drinks, or drinks I make for friends to get them strong enough.

Skinny brought up Stroh. That's a magical substance. Along with Green Chartreuse in equal parts, it makes one of the strongest shots around: The Flaming Dragon.

Yes, you set it on fire.

There is this huge underground ring of people smuggling Dr. Pepper outside of Dublin, Texas since it can only be sold in that county. I read an interesting article in which it described how soda companies sell the syrups and by regulations everything must be followed to blending specifications except you can substitute the corn syrup with cane sugar. Most choose not to because it's a higher cost and has shortens the life of the equipment. Also interesting enough Dublin and one Coke plant in Arkansas allow people to bring in their used bottles and will refill them while you wait for a fraction of the cost. Only two places left in the US to do that with soda.

Also I had some cubra libres at a restraunt named just that Cuba Libre. It tasted just like lime and frozen coke together. Am I missing something? They didn't seem like anything special.

We make cuba libres with 2 shots of Cacique rum, 1/2 shot of fresh lime juice, and half a bottle of said Mexican Coke, poured into a tall glass filled with ice and garnished with a lime slice. Tastes like a very smooth rum&coke but much more refreshing because the lime balances out the Coke sweetness. A great summer drink.

In a nutshell, 160 proof spiced dark rum from Austria that tastes (IMHO) pretty awful. I think there are 80 and 120 proof varieties as well, but the 160 is all they sell around here.

I think I would rather drink urine mixed with rat poison. Actually that's a lie. I think I'd try it just to say I did.

Also I would like to invite you all tro try having "Sex With Lowell." (It's more fun to hear verbally prescribed than see in letter form of course.) The drink comes in any size as long as it's equal parts Skyy Vodka, Kampai Melon Mix, and Mountain Dew. It tastes, feels, and even looks amazing. Also, just add cranberry juice and you get a "Reacharound."

Who doesn't love experimenting?!

I find that Everclear works remarkably well for this. 95.6% (190 proof) alchohol 4tw.

All this booze-ahol and soda talk has got me thinking... it's the side of me that loves the steampunk mad science aesthetic. But! Continuing in line with the derailment at hand, there is only one corn syrup based soda that I like: Goya's Ginger Beer. It's so gingery it's like a kick to the face, but that's not all! They add capsicum! You get punched in the teeth with spicy too! I am thinking to myself here... what kind of booze-ahol would go well with that (that I might inflict it upon unsuspecting others)? So that it's fizzy, fiery, AND extremely alcoholic?

*must raid cabinets and test recipes*
