Lo and behold Microsoft and Steven Spielberg's new love child aka: Project Natal
Basically a rip off of the wii motion control but taken to a new level, no joystick required or wires or whatnot. It's also has a mic and camera to sense your movements and voice. The ad for it is actually pretty funny just from a this looks pretty silly perspective. I also definitely sense some potential lawsuits from flailing induced back problems as a result of trying to use this thing.

Tue, 06/02/2009 - 11:15amWoah, that's pretty cool (but no smiling! That messes up facial recognition!)
Definitely will need a caution logo to avoid anyone complaining about doing flips and landing on their head.

Tue, 06/02/2009 - 7:42pmHey look it's Microsoft being innovative, oh, wait, just kidding, Nintendo did that before them. Also every time I see Steven Spielburg he's acting like a bigger douche than the last time I saw him. How much more douchetastic can he get?

And yes, could be cool technology once someone actually gets it out the door. >_>

Thu, 06/04/2009 - 7:06amExaggerated advertising of the capabilities? More than likely, considering the facial recognition seems more accurate than what they use at the DMV for "safety purposes." They have "no smiling" signs since showing your teeth seems to cause problems in the recognition system. But maybe the scale of detail they need for a video game varies from the detail they need on a DMV program.

Mon, 06/08/2009 - 4:09pmI know those games were just mock ups, but this concept looks like it's in the pre-beta phase at best.
I know personally I'd much rather be using a real wheel when racing then holding my hands out in mid-air

Tue, 06/09/2009 - 6:24amAye! Although this would be a fun concept to utilize for shooter and fighter games. (Imagine twisting your hand around cover to blind fire, and what not. I'd be interesting for online games!)

Tue, 06/09/2009 - 6:38amI prefer holding my hands out in mid-air rather than using the wheel....that's how I drive in real life!
