Gil farmers ruined the economy in FF XI, now it's their turn to take a punch! (although FF XI finally did something to stop them AFTER I left the game...along with adding a bunch of new thingamajigs to compensate for the boring game-play.)
Not sure how this will effect WoW except to possibly deflate gold? (then again, it's so easy to get gold from NPCs that those who buy it should hopefully have a minimal effect on it).
"A report in the English-language China Daily says that in-game gear is not considered virtual currency, so selling virtual items may be allowed to continue." NOOO!!! The loop-hole. Well, slightly restrictive loop-hole.
Dang. :\
Well, hopefully future MMO's will be able to eliminate the possibility of gold-farming. That'll solve this problem without having to go political.
