Well, I want to get a PhD in neuroengineering and work on brain/computer interface for the purpose of delivering sensory input directly to the brain, bypassing sensory organs. So basically, I want to bring about every gritty and awesome cyberpunk fiction I've ever seen, and simultaneously lay the groundwork for the matrix.

edit: no promises vas. they have some mighty fine looking elevators in that building. they're just sitting there looking like elevators, but I can tell they're asking for it.

thanks everyone! yeah, i can't say that the possibility of being Dr Hammer didn't play into my decision to get a PhD. of course, i may get sick of academia and just open up a brew pub right out of my bachelors. if that's the case, i expect ama to show up on my opening night.

sounds awesome! that's definitely a career that would probably be fun, unless you have to be the one to like, correct the audio tracks of days of our lives or something. that would be pretty bad.

that's not all thats weird about this whole process. the school is so big that they have staggered class registration dates. mine is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7am. i need to take circuits, but in order to do that i need to be enrolled in Dif-Eq. the thing is, Dif-Eq i've heard is reserved for math majors, so I may not be able to register for Dif-Eq until like august, meaning I'll be stuck with a total fuckwit for my circuits professor (there's only one bearable one, and three who are god-awful). Wft.

I think I saw that before. Pretty exciting stuff. Have you seen that video game that works the same way? I can't remember what it's called (since it's like a one-of-a-kind demo of the tech), but you focus on the ball and it bounces, or focus on the cube and it moves forward. I am more interested in sensory information, and delivering it into/recording it from the brain. That way we can finally make that life-long dream of mankind from the 1970's come true: SMELL-O-VISION!!
