I know Enix/Square was not in the original's developer intro/logo/thingy, but I do recall wiki saying Swquare Enix bought up quite a few of their staff. It looks like they have rights to Ogre Battle (officially?) now--maybe they'll release a Wii version!!~!! :D
I'm probably overly optimistic, but the cliffhanger at the end really needs a sequel.
Will do! ...if I had the money and the time, but it has cemented its place in my soul and I do not wish to be overly zealous about it--just ecstatic and supportive.
So...have any of you guys DL'd this game and tried it out yet? (by legal, or otherwise, means?) I do warn you that it's less action orientated and more involved in organizing your army of RPG characters and there's quite a bit of lore to get in to if you're up for reading. I just DL'd it to my Wii with the extra points I had on there--I hope some of you guys give it a chance! (As for meticulous stat balancing and control it definitely will feel more action-oriented if you have specific goals for your characters and the overall ending).
^.^ I now have one of my roommates playing OB 64 too. Oh, so is there a moderately cheap place to get the soundtrack for the game/various other games or movies, or is pirating the practical option?
True...I still have yet to directly don the Jolly Roger...I'm behind the times as well. >.< Also worried about viruses and my lacking abilities in combating them.
Also, if you downloadin' shit from like a big torrent site, usually just checking the comments section is plenty. If someone goes "uh dogs, shit has a virus", make sure it be aite, by scanning it or something. Or just find one where people aren't yelling "holy shit don't download this LOL".
So like, someone uploads something virus free and then it starts filtering around...it can in theory get infected once it starts being seeded from other random people, yes? And potentially work the same way if someone downloads something infected and then cleans it before seeding?
I grabbed something off piratebay a few days ago that half the thread were complaining about it having tons of trojans and I didn't find anything on it and I run several different pieces of software to weed out nasty bits.
In bittorrent has a checksum that makes sure that the data you are receiving is _exactly_ the same data that everyone else has. So in theory, inserting a virus is pretty much impossible. What people can do is take something, usually something hugely popular like Avatar or something, and re-upload an infected version of it with a new torrent file, and just hope that by numbers, some people will stumble on them.
Hmm, but if the original file that is uploaded has a virus, then that would be included in the checksum that is being compared against everything else?
sure, someone could offer a virus as an upload and call it like, ogre battle, for instance. if you're on a good bittorrent site though, the community will shut that down fast. someone will complain and have the torrent removed, and in the mean time warnings will be posted in the comments section. I always read comments before i dl, and almost never dl anything without seeing some sort of positive comment about it first.

Basically, yes! Though the way you worded it isn't quite right - the file wouldn't be uploaded anywhere. The thing that gets uploaded to piratebay/whatever is the torrent file, which already contains the checksum for the files. You can only download files that match the size specified in the torrent file and the checksum within, so inevitably, the virus would be included if it was downloadable through the torrent file :E
also vasya are you really so old that you don't know what a private tracker is? ;_;

Fri, 04/30/2010 - 6:19amI haven't, though I've kind of been neglecting my Wii lately. I need to get back into Metroid Trilogy, I'm like halfway through Prime 2.
And you're welcome, Bram. :)
